Kerrigan’s much maligned second film, following the critically acclaimed Clean, Shaven (1993) – a piercing, uncompromising, and truly unsettling account of a call-girl’s attempts to leave her life of prostitution following the death of her mother – is a difficult piece that perhaps asks more of the viewer than it gives in return, but it’s a work that will likely haunt the thoughts and dreams for years to come of those brave enough to tackle it wholeheartedly.
