Husband and wife lawyers (a never better Tracy and Hepburn) find themselves on opposite sides of the courtroom, as an abused, neglected wife (a scene-stealing Holliday) stands accused of attempting to murder her philandering husband, in Cukor’s elegantly photographed, very funny, and agelessly perceptive realisation of husband and wife writing team Gordon and Kanin’s glorious battle of the sexes.
