John Mills’s recently released ex-convict, wrongly accused of murder, ventures back out into the world, single-mindedly intent upon revenging those that connived and contrived to put him behind bars; but humanity (his and others’) ensures that twelve years of pain is not as easy to wipe-out as he had first thought, in Hamer’s stylish, excellently acted, and really quite moving examination of vengeance and loss.
