Despite an all too brief, superfluous, and surprisingly dull appearance from the oft brilliant duo of Radford and Wayne, Gilliat and Launder’s warmly drawn portrait of life on the home front during the Second World War is, with its mix of funny, dramatic, romantic, and poignant moments, a movingly entertaining little film.
