This thoroughly credible, slightly downbeat portrait of a dolefully optimistic boxing manager/trainer and one of his fighters, a lovable loser from Glasgow, is an often funny and rather moving examination of the role that hope plays in our everyday lives, and, beyond that, it also serves as biting social commentary.
