Clouds of May is the second part of Ceylan’s loose, loosely autobiographical trilogy, following the majestic Kasaba (1997) and preceding the exquisite Uzak (2002), which sees – very much in the reflexive spirit of Kiarostami – an Istanbul based film-maker return to his hometown to make a low-budget film featuring numerous members of his extended family.
