This small, gentle film from Meadows – a touching account of a burgeoning friendship between a gobby, homeless, Nottingham teenager and a quiet, sensitive Polish boy in the eponymous area of London, and their brief encounter with an attractive French waitress – is probably the midlander’s funniest film to date, and perhaps even his most beautiful and moving, though far from his most powerful.
