For those that think that violent death can be redemptive and noble, this may well be a film to enjoy, but for the rest of us, this sentimental, uneven work – part Hmong cultural lecture, part unconvincing gangland drama, part culture clash comedy – is at best mildly diverting and at worst offensive and repugnant.
