Affleck’s touching performance enlivens Buscemi’s slightly familiar if accomplished, blackly funny tale of a 27-year-old man who is forced to return to the family home after failing to make it on his own in New York, where he must contend with his suicidal brother, blinkeredly optimistic mother, and flippant father, whilst attempting to woo a pretty, young nurse.
