Despite some stunning scenes towards the end between Brody and Kretschmann, this incredible story of the eponymous musician Szpilman, chronicling his remarkable survival in Warsaw during the Second World War, is never really as affecting as it should be, suffering irrevocably from all the characters speaking English in silly accents rather than speaking Polish.
